INTRODUCTION
Over the past decade the Quantity Surveying profession has seen a significant decline in the number of persons graduating in the field in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
There is absolutely very little or no academic support offered to persons wishing to become Quantity Surveyors in the region hence the demand for Quantity Surveyors far outstrips the supply.
The ACTT Accredited Level 5 Diploma in Quantity Surveying offered by SHEL is the only such programme offered in Trinidad and Tobago and covers a wide range of modules such as; Measurement and Costing Estimating, Value Management, Micro Economics, Procurement, Cost Control Principles, amongst many others.
This programme will position prospects on a journey towards becoming a full-fledged Quantity Surveyor in a market that encourages ease of entry and exciting promotional and growth opportunities.
This Quantity Surveying field is a very lucrative industry and offers excellent job prospects, career growth and development opportunities. It is also appropriate for persons seeking to delve into their own business venture. SHEL has offered Quantity Surveying programmes in the past, up to the Master Degree level and as such possess the natural ability to move students from CXC to tertiary education level.
*A Diploma will be awarded to students upon the successful completion of all teaching sessions.
Learning Outcomes
Students will learn the following in this Diploma in Quantity Surveying:
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of contemporary and rationalized traditional construction technology and its application.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Direct Entry Criteria
Students MUST possess at least ONE of the following:
- Certificate in a related discipline from an accredited institution – OR
- SHEL’s Built Environment Certificate
- 2 CAPE / GCE A’Level Subjects
Mature Entry Criteria
In order to be considered for Mature Entry, Students MUST possess:
- 3 Years Experience in a Facility Management Environment
- Be over the age of 21
